About This Content

"THE BLOOD…I MUST HAVE THE BLOOD!"

Darkest Dungeon®: The Crimson Court is the first expansion for the award-winning grim and gothic RPG by Red Hook Studios. Crimson Court is a parallel campaign experienced alongside the main Darkest Dungeon content that will provide you with new challenges and variation at every difficulty level. The narrative grounding sheds some light on the Ancestor’s early days, and will be presented in the same style of cut-scenes you’ve seen elsewhere in the game.

The DLC is designed to be played alongside an existing campaign, or as a brand new one–your choice! The events and features will unlock over the course of play.

Features:
  • A new hero class. “Awash in blood and delusion, they bear the burden of a thousand lifetimes.”
  • A new dungeon region: The Courtyard
  • A full faction of new deadly foes
  • 5 new Bosses with some of the most complex and devious mechanics yet.
  • A new wandering boss: The Fanatic
  • Districts: 10 new buildings to upgrade your Hamlet
  • Massive, sprawling maps with locked doors, prisoner rooms, and progress saves
  • Lore-driven trinket sets for all heroes – with set bonuses!

As the Crimson Curse spreads unrelentingly over the estate, parties will battle new enemies in familiar regions, as well as setting foot in a completely new sprawling environment: the Courtyard. There, amidst unique curios, traps and obstacles, a complete faction of new blood-crazed foes lie in wait, overseen by three distinct boss encounters. These slavering enemies and epic encounters will introduce new combat mechanics, testing the limits of your favorite strategies.

As the infestation grows and your roster begins to sicken, the Fanatic will emerge to roam the hallways, confusing friend and foe alike in his zealous quest to exterminate the Curse.

The odds are not completely stacked against you, however! A new playable hero class will be added alongside powerful new trinkets, town events, and a fresh way to expand and upgrade your Hamlet.

    • Graphics: Open GL 3.2+ Compliant

Reynauld loses God Fearing… in a confession booth.I complain that it was literally the only quirk I didn’t care about. He gets it back at the end of the dungeon. :lunar2019deadpanpig:

Where would I find the stats for monsters’ apprentice levels? I’d like to (at least help) make a mod that would let the enemies who normally only appear in veteran dungeons (like the crab, the unclean giant, and bone captain. Maybe not the champion mini b…

This game has a pretty big learning curve (it takes a while to learn and easily recognize synergies between the dozens of character skills), but holy hell is it fun once you get the nuances. I’ve got almost 40 hours and I still haven’t used some of the classes so I have no clue how well they work. The game is a veritable sandbox of traits and statistics, with each Adventurer in your roster unique. It plays almost like a Team Manager game, with extremely difficult challenges between the management/town sessions. And your guys are going to die; in a way it’s a bit like Blood Bowl because you can nurture a player for weeks only to have them brought down in a moment’s strike. So don’t get attached.

It’s a hard game. Do yourself a favor and do NOT look at all the curio charts online, the game has tools built into it to help you remember what does what (for instance if you use a torch on a bookcase, the game will show you with an icon from then on what torches do whenever you encounter another bookcase). But don’t spoil the fun of discovery, that’s what makes this game so endearing.

My only con is that on the first two difficulty levels (Beginner and Normal), the game is essentially endless. This means that you will always win, it’s just a meat grind to get there. Consider how many weeks it takes you to do so as your "score". But on the Hard difficulty the game has a time limit. I feel like the Normal difficulty should too, at least a relaxed one. That’s my only issue with the game. Darkest Dungeon should take a cue from other rogue-likes such as For the King, which have doom-timers on all difficulty levels. That way you at least feel challenged on Normal without being unfair, and not like you’re just grinding and cannot lose.

Clearly it’s not possible to kill the nest then the Shrieker, and AFAIK the only pure damaging move that hits the middle two slots is Hellions Breakthrough, HWMs Grapeshot, Jesters Harvest, and Graverobbers Flashing Daggers. And none of these moves can be…
