About This Game

A mysterious illness suddenly broke out in girls in their teens and twenties, enhancing them mentally and granting them the ability to change their bodies into highly lethal weapons. The cause of the illness was a virus, currently classified into two types: the "A-Virus" and "V-Virus".

The world government enacted a law to care for patients infected with the Virus. Five secret artificial islands were established to quarantine the infected patients. One such quarantine island: Bhikkhuni, the island famous for successfully controlling the "V-Virus". Girls who enroll in Bhikkhuni’s school can overcome the virus. And thus, it is a school with many hopeful applicants.

Among them is a pair of sisters infected with the "V-Virus". The elder Rinka Kagurazaka, whose innocent grace hides power within. The younger Ranka Kagurazaka, whose outgoing energy belies her frailty.

They are still unaware that there is only one way to control the virus.

And that is… for infected patients to battle each other.

To battle amongst themselves.

In VALKYRIE DRIVE -BHIKKHUNI- a mysterious virus known as the A-Virus infects young women, transforming them into weapons known as ‘Extars’ or those that control them, ‘Liberators’. However, the voluptuous Valkyries are infected with a unique strain, the VR-Virus, allowing them to take on either role at will. Proving incredibly difficult to cure, they are sent for quarantine to the sun-soaked island of Bhikkhuni where a treatment is put into place: the Valkyries engage in combat against one another to strengthen both mind and body and allow them greater control of the Virus. Who runs the island? What is the secret of the Virus? Will you choose Order or Chaos? This and more will be answered throughout your time with VALKYRIE DRIVE -BHIKKHUNI-.

Uncapped 60fps+ 4K. Japanese voice, English subs. Rebindable Controls. Good Mouse + Pad support. Exactly what’s expected from a decent port. Only minor problem I’ve noticed so far was some background blur from the depth of field taking effect. Can’t say it was a problem with hd jiggles in my face taking over the view. Jokes aside I say this as someone who easily suffers from motion sickness. Another useful feature is the ability to zoom camera quite far away from characters, which takes care of any FOV issues.

Never played the series before? It’s an action game with some heavy visual novel segments that can be skipped over if you don’t enjoy them. Battle through arenas which can be replayed using different team selections to get higher scores and gather collectables that were missed. Dialog is silly but at the same time entertaining. Outside of story mode you can use dress-up room, play PG++ mini games & chat character up to build relationships.

Enjoy the Senran series or anime games/jrpgs/fighters in general? Valkyrie Drive worth a look at. Fun to play & performance is great. 200-400fps @ 4K with 8X AA using a 1080ti + 7700k. Can’t comment on the multiplayer as I’ve yet to test it out. More thoughts on the pc performance then an in-depth review, hope it helps. 😀

This game is a big improvement on Senran kagura
A way better graphic and atmosphere. Better model quality. Fixed a lot of issue that Senran Kagura has. A great PC port

Good combat system, more variety
The map looks beautiful
Nice graphic and art style
Fun game play
Crazy amount of customization
Actual boss battles, and they look god dam awesome
There are way more things to do than "go and kill things"
You can customize accessory, makes your character even more unique
Secrets (like fragments and chestguard) are very well hidden and quite fun to try and find them

Honorable mention: Boobs
Purchasable underwear
Mod-able(? )
Massage mini game
Underwear making machine

Force tutorial, doesn’t have an option to skip (i hate this the most)
You can brute force through most the stage with spamming left/right click, and occasional dodging. Kind of a waste for such a good combat system
Repetitive after a while
Some minor bugs ( mouse cursor is still on screen while in battle, very distracting)
The story is pretty meh (this is subjective)
No limitation on how much u can spam dodge. Ai also spam them…. and when i mean spam i mean spam… lots of spam. They prioritize dodging over attacking you it seem. It also drags the battle out longer than needed to
A horrible lock on system that automatically changes target (depends on where u look and/or if an enemy went in front of your current locked on target), Seizure inducing if there are over dozen of enemies in battle (camera just freaking the hell out, recommend to not use lock on when fighting multiples)
Some balancing issue (Ex: Mana can beat many bosses with ease while others can have some struggles)

Honorable mention:
All of them have big boobs… (i want some variety, dam it!)

Should you buy it?

Yes: if u like hack and slash and a lot of fan service (or if u don’t mind fan service but also doesn’t like it, still buy it because the combat is hella fun)

No: if u extremely hate fan service
Hates repetitive game play
Hates hack and slash
Hates anime (why are u even here?)
A Feminist

Going to update this the more i play

I thought I would write this review and I have no desire to knock down anyone who do not like this game. Different strokes for different folks hangs with me always. As far as tecnical issues of complaints from other gamers, I have not seen any whatsoever and the game runs smoothly. Before I buy a game I do a lot research on Steam using reviews, discussions, and all other entities pertaining to the game.

With that said I must say Valkyrie Drive-Bhikkuni, is one of, if not the most favorite game that I own. The story in the game is rich with active characters, amusement, various choices in game play, and easier to advance to the higher levels of the game. I always start easy level with a new game as to get used to each character and their combat skills. Though all characters are female (even the robot tainers), they are eye appealing compartively to other games I own. I appreciate the ability to have training tools in the game to help improve each and every character’s combat skills. There is much more I can say that I like about Valkyrie Drive-Bhikkhun but I hate sitting down writing anything for a period of time. I have no regrets buying this game.

Quick Synopsis: Yuri Sisters turn girls into weapons by getting them aroused and proceed to beat the clothes off every other girl they meet on the island they are exiled to due to being infected with a virus that has zero negative symptoms.

Many other reviewers compare this game to the Senran Kagura series, which is a very fair comparison, and ultimately your mileage may vary on which one you consider superior. Senran Kagura has a much larger cast of playable characters with a wider assortment of unique styles, whereas with Valkyrie Drive it focuses more heavily on a smaller cast, some of which look VERY similar (such as the two main protagonists, near identical sisters). While the variety of characters is lacking, it makes up for it in story which is much more robust and fleshed out than Senran Kagura, the individual character stories are now tied into the main plot and there is a huge amount of story to wade through. This game is a full featured VISUAL NOVEL game with it’s story cutscenes alone, there’s hours of the stuff!

The actual combat is a bit improved too, it’s not really a 1:1 comparison as it feels quite a bit different than Senran Kagura. From a basic level you still have your weak attack/strong attack, as well as aerial maneuvers, knockbacks, recoveries, and even transformations, but the execution of it feels more polished.

Levels are still fairly linear small stages, but are engaging enough to look at, with a small handful of additional secrets to discover such as unlockable clothing in the wardrobe.

Outside of battle the main hub lets you build relationships with other girls through a fairly basic and gimmicky heart system, and in the dressing room you can increase a girl’s bust rank by "groping" her and then buy or unlock tickets to play a heart catch minigame. There’s also a store the same as Senran Kagura where you can buy new outfits, cg scenes, music, and so on that you unlock through gameplay.

DLC provides characters from the anime Valkyrie Drive Mermaid: Mirei and Mamori. If you’re a fan of ecchi, yuri, or harem anime it’s worth checking out that series and seeing how it ties into the story of this game (spoiler: very little)

Overall Valkyrie Drive is a very fun game, and very much worth it for fans of Senran Kagura who enjoy the clothes ripping action combat. It’s a very competent 3D fighter but taken on it’s own, it’s hard to enjoy if you aren’t also a fan of ecchi and lewd anime girls.

Disclaimer: Playtime as of review is low due to most time spent being with the PS Vita version. PC version is greatly improved on in terms of graphics and it plays very well if you have a machine to run it.

So this is a game by the same people behind the Senran Kagura series. It is a fighting game with… well, a bit of fan service on the side. Since in combat, one of your goals when fighting another girl is to obliterate their clothes. Not too unlike Senran Kagura…

Backstory is that there are two viruses that have appeared in the world. They seem to target only females between their teens and twenties. The world governments built a few islands to help treat these girls… but the only cure appears to be fighting with each other.

Which sucks for the main pair of girls, who happen to be sisters…

Combat is interesting. There are also slight romances you can read/interact with. And then there is the dressing room…

There is an undertone of yuri… actually, it isn’t much of an undertone. See, to reach your peak fighting abilities you have to perfrom connections. And one of the two viruses means that includes kissing (and possibly more, there’s an anime for the "A" virus).

I would recommend getting the game, probably on discount, but definitely the complete edition. Since the DLC includes the protagonists of that anime I mentioned…

Valkyrie Drive is a fun hack and slash game with an interesting story. I was introduced to this game through a coupon that I recieved for owning Shinovi Versus and doing some research, it is by the same creators which piqued my interest.

From a gameplay perspective it is a fun ride, Pulling out combos and doing phantom moves which is satisfying to pull off. Though it a may get repetitive at times, however the levels are at a decent length so to not overstay its welcome. With a grading system and collectibles, it have good replayability without it being a chore due to its fast paced combat. While some would give it a negative due to the small roster as compared to Shinovi Versus, it helps give more focus and give a cohesive narrative than learning 20 different backstory that it is hard to keep track of.

From a technical standpoint, there are several problems with the first released such as the wierd physics with the clothes and the hair and some minor crashes. Other than that, I do have a comfortable playthrough with no major issue.

Overall, this game while having the same feel as Shinovi Versus, with a new storyline and new cast of characters with some changes to the battle mechanics, it is a fun and new experience playing through this game.

Also it got yuri in it so it is always a plus
